1. What the App Does with Your Data
Ekadashi Companion calculates Ekadashi dates, Parana times and reminders on your device. No account is needed.
2. Stored Only on Your Device
The following information is stored solely within your device's local storage:
- Your chosen location coordinates and city
- Fasting tradition (Gaudiya Vaishnava / ISKCON or Smarta)
- Language and appearance theme preferences
- Reminder settings and notification timings
- Sadhana (japa and sankalpa) logs
- Notification schedule configured with the Android system
Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes all of it.
3. Location
Accurate Vedic fasting dates and Parana windows depend strictly on local solar and lunar positions at your specific geographic coordinates:
- Manual Selection: You can pick a city or type coordinates; no permission is needed for that.
- Current Location: If you tap "Use current location", the app asks for Android location permission, reads your position once, and uses it on your device to compute timings. Your coordinates are not sent to SoftQuill Labs and are not stored on any server by us.
- Geocoder Lookup: To show a place name, the Android geocoder service (Google) may receive your coordinates for that single lookup.
4. Anonymous Usage Statistics (Firebase Analytics)
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how many people use the app and which screens are used (for example Home, Calendar, Food checker).
It collects an app-instance identifier, app version, device model and OS, approximate country, and screen/feature usage.
It does not collect your name, email, phone number, location coordinates, selected city, or any text you type.
We do not use advertising IDs and show no ads. You can turn this off at any time in Settings, Appearance and Language, "Anonymous usage statistics". If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, statistics are collected only after you tap "Allow".
5. Food Label Scanner
Photos you take for the ingredient scanner are processed on your device by Google ML Kit (the text-recognition model is downloaded by Google Play services). We do not upload the photos, and old scan photos are deleted from the app cache.
6. Purchases
Optional purchases (Sadhana Plus, offerings) are handled by Google Play. We only learn whether a purchase is active, never your payment details.
7. Notifications and Alarms
Reminders are scheduled locally with Android alarms. We do not send push notifications from a server.
8. Sharing, Retention, Children, and Your Rights
We do not sell personal data. Analytics data is processed by Google under its terms and kept for the retention period set in our Firebase project (recommended: 14 months).
The app is not directed at children under 13.
To ask questions or request deletion, write to contact@softquilllabs.com; clearing the app data also resets the analytics identifier.
